On July 3 and 4, 15 teenagers from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan attended an event in Jimei district in Xiamen, which was the first of a series of events to mark the 30th anniversary of cross-Straits Peace Angel's activities, which is an event to establish peace among young people across the Straits.
During the event, teenagers explored marine cultural knowledge based on the cross-Straits marine resources.
They visited places such as Xiamen University's Museum of Marine Science and Technology, saw many new marine creatures, learned about marine geology, and tried their hands at making tidal generators and traditional Fujian-style boats. At the event, they also enhanced their cultural identity and interpersonal relationships.
"I have always been curious about the ocean, and I hope to learn more about the ocean through this activity. I also look forward to making friends with other children," said Chang Chi-jen from Taiwan, who has attended the activity for the second time.
"I want to get close with children from Taiwan, so as to enhance the friendship between the two sides," said Liu Chenwei from Xiamen, who also attended the activity for the second time.
Since 1992, the cross-Straits Peace Angels activity has attracted more than 2,400 teenagers from across the Straits to visit over 20 cities, counties, and districts both on the Chinese mainland and in Taiwan.
