The Department of Commerce of Fujian Province and China Daily signed a strategic cooperation agreement on May 10 to promote the business environment of Fujian, as well as boost its international economic and trade cooperation.

By taking full advantage of its omnimedia platform, China Daily will continue to deliver the voice of Fujian to the world to enhance the province's reputation, attract more global enterprises to invest in the province, promote "Made in Fujian" products in the global market, as well as expand economic cooperation with foreign countries to achieve win-win results.

Official data shows that Fujian's business sector has had a strong start in the first three months of this year, achieving steady improvement and growth.

The province has launched a string of shopping events to boost consumption. Its total retail sales topped 515.57 billion yuan ($80.16 billion) during the January to March period, growing by 10.5 percent year-on-year compared to the same period in 2019. The total foreign trade of Fujian expanded by 34.2 percent year-on-year to 383.58 billion yuan in the first three months of the year, while the actual use of foreign capital totaled 13.62 billion yuan, up 37.9 percent compared with the same period in 2019.
