Xiamen Airlines makes contributions in COVID-19 fight
The 2021 Wu Xiaobo Year-end Show kicked off in the coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province on Dec 30, with individuals, groups, and organizations commended for their contribution to the battle against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Xiamen Airlines was one of the commended groups. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, it had operated 65 flights carrying 5,862 medical workers to Wuhan, the city hit hardest by COVID-19 in China, in Hubei province, offering great help to the city's fight against the epidemic.
The group also offered free air tickets to medical workers sent to assist in treatment in Hubei province for three consecutive years, paying tribute to medical workers who had protected other people's lives at the risk of their own.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Xiamen Airlines has contributed in multiple ways in the fight against the pandemic, including maintaining international flights, transporting medical staff and materials to Hubei province, as well as sending charter flights to foreign countries to bring back Chinese citizens stranded overseas.
