Sanming University's School of Overseas Education (School of Foreign Languages) held a Chinese Corner on Dec 5, fostering cross-cultural dialogue under the theme "Chinese Modernization in My Eyes".
The event created a dynamic platform for international students and their Chinese peers to exchange perspectives on China's development path, discussing various dimensions of Chinese Modernization, including its cultural characteristics, economic achievements, and social governance, as seen through the eyes of the younger generation.
The event was honored by the presence of eight foreign teachers from Xiamen University and Liu Jinlong of the international office, who attended as special guests and provided expert commentary, answered questions, and shared valuable insights, enriching the conversation and bridging theoretical understanding and personal observation.
The corner featured lively, open discussions, with participants sharing their unique perspectives and experiences. International students shared observations on China's rapid development and its global implications, while Chinese students provided local context and personal narratives. This interactive format, facilitated by the guest experts, enabled a meaningful exploration of how modernization intersects with cultural heritage and daily life.
"Events like this are crucial for mutual understanding," said Lu Min, dean of the School of Overseas Education (School of Foreign Languages). "Having the esteemed professors from Xiamen University join us elevated the dialogue, helping all students, both Chinese and international, to gain a more nuanced and comprehensive view of China's development journey."
This Chinese Corner served as a microcosm of people-to-people exchange, reinforcing Sanming University's commitment to providing an immersive, intellectually engaging environment for its international student community and promoting deeper cultural and academic ties.
