The award ceremony for CATL, the world's leading battery manufacturer, was held on April 1, in Ningde, Fujian province, after being named one of Clarivate's Top 100 Global Innovators. CATL stood as the sole award-winning representative in the global lithium battery field, showcasing its innovative prowess as a significant force shaping future global trends.

CATL, recognized as a rising star among the top 100 institutions, has demonstrated remarkable achievements in the past five years, including industry-leading growth in patent applications (over 35,000), a patent authorization rate exceeding 95 percent, cumulative patent citations exceeding 30,000, and an investment of over 70 billion yuan ($9.63 billion) in research and development.

Clarivate highlighted CATL as a crucial innovative force in disruptive technological evolution, emphasizing the importance of open innovation as a future trend that aligns closely with CATL's development strategy. In December 2024, CATL introduced a "co-creation" approach in the global lithium battery industry, providing significant financial support to suppliers to drive breakthroughs in key battery material and equipment technologies, fostering healthy, stable, and sustainable industry development.

Ouyang Chuying, co-president for Research & Development at CATL, emphasized, "In the face of fierce competition in the new energy industry, we firmly believe that mastering core technologies is essential to exert influence in the global industrial chain."

CATL has established six major R&D centers with over 20,000 researchers, focusing on innovative systems in materials, system structures, green extreme manufacturing, and business models, holding a total of 43,354 domestic and international patents and patent applications.
