Wuyishan city located in Nanping city, Fujian province, is renowned for its pristine ecological environment that nurtures a diverse range of tea varieties. Jiang Yuanxun, a deputy to the National People's Congress highlighted the city's distinct climate and breathtaking scenery, which have fostered a thriving tea culture over the years, with Wuyi tea serving as a distinguished symbol of Fujian's tea industry.

During this year's two sessions, Jiang underscored Wuyishan's historical significance as the birthplace of Oolong and black tea, playing a pivotal role in Fujian's tea sector. He emphasized the region's global tea influence, mentioning the early exportation of Wuyi tea to Europe, which contributed to the establishment of English afternoon tea customs and promoted global exchanges and integration of world civilizations.

To further drive the overall development of tea culture, tea industry, and tea technology and enhance Wuyi tea's cultural significance, Jiang made the following suggestions:

Firstly, advocate for comprehensive support through policies, funding, and talent to establish the Wuyi great tea region around Wuyishan as a focal point of Fujian's tea culture.

Secondly, create a Fujian Tea Cultural Industrial Park in Wuyishan city, aligning with national modern agricultural park policies to advance tea heritage preservation, tea-making techniques, eco-friendly tea gardens, and more.

Furthermore, facilitate the construction of a national-level tea trading wholesale market in Wuyishan city.

Lastly, enhance the protection of tea-related intellectual property rights and geographical indications while encouraging tea enterprises to bolster competitiveness through resource integration and business consolidation to foster industry growth and specialization.
