The Sanming section of the Long March National Cultural Park officially opened on Oct 12, consolidating Sanming's distinction as the "farthest starting point of the Central Red Army's Long March".

Themed on "New Long March, A New Start", the main opening event was held in Ninghua county in Sanming, one of the four starting points of the Central Red Army's Long March.

In the autumn of 1934, over 10,000 Red Army soldiers gathered at Fenghuang Mountain, now Fenghuangshan village in Ninghua county, taking the first step in the Long March.

The main venue in Ninghua featured eight activities, including a performance of a situational musical drama, an exploration of the Sanming section of the Long March National Cultural Park project and interactions among descendants of revolutionary martyrs and founding generals, and Ninghua youth.

Simultaneously, the 4th Working Conference of the Red Tourism City Alliance along the Long March route convened. It brought together representatives from more than 40 red tourism cities, spanning 14 provinces and municipalities along the Long March route, to exchange their insights and foster collaborative growth in red tourism.

In addition to the main venue in Ninghua, the other 10 counties, county-level cities, and districts in Sanming hosted concurrent sub-venue activities, showcasing local accomplishments in the development of the Long March National Cultural Park.

These efforts are said to highlight Sanming's dedication to embarking on the new Long March journey of this era and advancing the high-quality development of old revolutionary base areas.
