Traditional cultural feast held during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in Fujian

During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Fujian province received 6.86 million tourists, who spent 5.2 billion yuan ($733.1 million), increases of 28.8 percent and 37.7 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019.
Kuliang, a popular summer retreat near Fuzhou, blended traditional Mid-Autumn elements with unique agricultural products, offering a fresh experience. Activities like DIY mooncakes and traditional games were enjoyed by visitors, including international exchange students and tourists who made mooncakes with local residents, giving them the chance to experience local customs and learn about Kuliang's agricultural specialties.
According to the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the entire province has launched a series of autumn cultural and tourism promotion activities, unveiling over 2,100 distinctive cultural and tourism events. Moreover, 10 premium autumn travel routes and specially curated guides for the top 20 autumn viewing spots and more guides have been introduced, lending a boost to the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday market.
Thematic events across Fujian highlighted traditional Mid-Autumn Festival customs, providing tourists with the chance to appreciate traditional Chinese culture. Fuzhou hosted a China-chic carnival, integrating intangible cultural heritage, while Xiamen's Mid-Autumn Tourism Carnival featured vibrant events like the Gulangyu Mid-Autumn Cultural Festival. Quanzhou offered a unique activity themed around bobing, a dice game traditionally played during the celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival in China's Minnan (southern Fujian province) region, and tea competitions during Mid-Autumn following Sun Wukong.
