The pedestrian overpasses of Xiamen, Fujian province, have recently come alive thanks to blooming Bauhinia flowers.
From a distance, they look like colorful airborne flower corridors, supporting the unique romance of the city.
In 1986, Xiamen designated the Bauhinia as the city flower. It is a robust and adaptable flower with a long flowering period. It is widely planted throughout the city because it displays various bright and beautiful colors.
The Xiamen Botanical Garden, designated as the national Bauhinia germplasm resource bank, has collected more than 400 varieties of Bauhinia and newly cultivated species.
