On Aug 15, the second National Ecology Day was celebrated in Sanming, Fujian province under the theme "Accelerating comprehensive green transformation for economic and social development".

During the event, the Fujian Development and Reform Commission highlighted 53 exemplary cases in green and low-carbon development, social green and low-carbon transformation, circular economy system construction and more, summarizing the achievements of Fujian's ecological civilization construction in 2023.

Key officials from the Fujian Department of Industry and Information Technology, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Ecology and Environment, and more presented their respective achievements in ecological civilization construction. Representatives from various cities and counties of Fujian also shared relevant experiences.

During the event, a Sanming initiative for National Ecology Day was launched, promoting the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" to foster a consensus on respecting and protecting nature. The initiative emphasized commitment to civilized development, advancing the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature for a more beautiful China.

Furthermore, the event witnessed a signing ceremony between Shanghai and Sanming for the sale of forestry carbon tickets in Jiangle county. A Shanghai-based company signed a deal on-site for 20,000 metric tons of forestry carbon tickets from Jiangle county at a price of 300,000 yuan ($41,814.5), marking the first inter-provincial sale of forestry carbon tickets in China. Additionally, the event featured an ecological product exhibition market showcasing eco-products like Jiangle Lei Cha, or pounded tea, a traditional Hakka tea-based beverage, and Longqi Mountain Spring Water.
