On Feb 5, an event uniting compatriots from both sides of the Taiwan Strait in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year took place in Fuzhou, capital of East China's Fujian province. Over 70 representatives, including Taiwan compatriots and other guests, participated in the festivities.

Organized by the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, the event represents a tangible step towards building a demonstration zone for integrated development across the Taiwan Strait, aiming to deepen cross-Strait integrated development in all fields. It also serves as a specific way to promote cross-Strait exchanges.

The event was divided into three parts, seamlessly blending Minnan culture, cross-Strait culinary traditions, and customary practices. It not only provided a platform for Taiwan compatriots in Fujian to reunite during the Spring Festival but also offered a cultural extravaganza immersing attendees in the richness of Chinese culture.

Furthermore, the event was live-streamed online, and nearly 10000 of Taiwan compatriots and netizens viewed it in real-time and interacted via messages.

During the event, the Zhangzhou Puppet Inheritance and Protection Center presented a classic puppet show for the Taiwanese compatriots, while members of the Fuzhou Cross-Strait Cultural and Art Troupe performed a well-known children's rhyme from both Fujian and Taiwan.

Compatriots from both sides of the Taiwan Strait gathered to enjoy delicious food, make spring rolls, and share stories of reunion. Taiwan compatriots rooted in Fujian shared their experiences studying, living, and starting businesses on the mainland, as well as their New Year's wishes.

Finally, all attendees joined in singing a classic Minnan song, bringing a fitting conclusion to the festivities amidst music and laughter.
