Largest LNG-powered car carrier sets sail
On January 22, SAIC ANJI SINCERITY, the world's largest LNG dual-fuel Roll-on/Roll-off ship (RO-RO ship) in terms of loading capacity, has anchored in the Modern Wharf of Xiamen Dongdu Port.
More than 3,700 cars were loaded onto the ship, which departed from Xiamen to European countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Germany and Belgium. It is the largest batch of cars exported in a single voyage from Xiamen port by far.
To ensure the smooth maiden voyage, the Dongdu port branch of Xiamen Customs District guided the planning of storage areas in advance, expanding the storage capacity to 6,000 vehicles, an increase of nearly 40 percent.
In recent years, Xiamen Port has become an important shipping hub for the export of new energy products, thanks to its favorable business environment. In 2023, 85,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) exported through the port, a tenfold increase year-on-year.
Since the beginning of this year, Xiamen Port has exported a large number of NEVs. The MORNING MIDAS, another RO-RO ship, departed from Xiamen Port on Jan. 22, carrying 1,828 NEVs. So far, more than 4,400 NEVs have been exported from the port.
