South China tiger delivers cub at Fujian's breeding institute

A female South China tiger named Yan Yan delivered a cub at the Meihuashan South China Tiger Breeding Institute in Longyan, Fujian province on Oct 11.

Longyan established the breeding institute in 1998, and has developed into the largest South China tiger breeding and training base in China.

Through 24 years of consistent preservation, research and development, and training, the institute has bred a total of 66 South China tigers.

The South China tiger is a unique tiger subspecies in China, ranking first among the world's top 10 endangered animals and is the most endangered tiger subspecies, with only about 250 remaining in China.
