Fujian's exports in 2021 set new record

The exports from East China's Fujian province grew 27.7 percent year-on-year to 1.08 trillion yuan ($170.52 billion) in 2021, which is the first time the province's exports have exceeded 1 trillion yuan, according to the provincial department of commerce and Fuzhou Customs on Jan 17.

The growth rate of Fujian's exports was ranked fifth nationwide.

During the same period, the province's imports surged 35.7 percent year-on-year to 763.31 billion yuan.

Overall, the province's imports and exports volume soared 30.9 percent year-on-year to 1.84 trillion yuan in 2021.

Fujian province has been bolstering its efforts to boost exports from its industries and enterprises.

In 2021, 8,302 foreign trade entities were established in Fujian province, and 2,352 of those entities generated a total of 95.2 billion yuan in exports, driving the province's exports up by about 11.2 percentage points.

The province has also been promoting the construction of national-level foreign trade transformation and upgrading bases. Three bases in the province were rated as new national-level bases in 2021, increasing the total number of national-level bases in the province to 26.

By taking advantage of market exploration, the province's foreign trade volume with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the United States, and the European Union increased 32.5 percent, 25.5 percent, and 29.5 percent in 2021, respectively. 

In 2021, the province achieved about 56.6 billion yuan in exports through market procurement, up 65 percent from 2020.

The province's cross-border e-commerce exports exceeded 35 billion yuan during the same period.

In addition, the province has set up more than 100 overseas warehouses in more than 30 countries and regions including Europe, the United States, Japan and Russia.
