The annual event will be jointly sponsored by the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, the China Chamber of International Commerce, as well as the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Xiamen Committee (CCPIT). A characteristic Japanese exhibition hall will also be built at the expo to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China, with an array of featured products imported from Japan being displayed.

At the news conference, Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group inked a strategic cooperation agreement with Xiamen City University, with both sides saying that they will deepen cooperation to promote the comprehensive development of Xiamen's cross-border e-commerce industry.

Li Ruihua, an Alibaba official, addressed the conference, noting that Alibaba will cooperate with CCPIT to pursue integrated development and promote the higher-level development of Xiamen's foreign trade sector, as well as to offer more exchange opportunities for Xiamen's foreign trade enterprises.
