Sun Limei, secretary of the Party branch in Guxian village of Ningde city, Fujian province died at her post of rescue work by the flood on Aug 6. She was 44.

In the beginning of August, tropical storm Lupit swept the province and caused heavy rains in Guxian village, Xiapu county. The Jinshaxi river near the village rose swiftly and inundated some farmland alongside banks. Sun was afraid that the flood would develop more severe damages, and led three colleagues to check the surrounding environment.

Sun was clearing sediments silted in the tunnel of a bridge when the water current knocked her down. Her colleagues came to her rescue. Tang Hui, leader of a community work station in Xiapu, said he jumped into the river to lift Sun up. But his strength was not enough to save her.

Sun was stuck in the sediments and the flood finally swallowed her.
