Government departments in East China's Fujian province are busy preparing for the upcoming National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, which will run from Oct 1 to 8 this year. A series of measures will be taken to prevent the spread of infection, said local authorities on Sept 30.

During a video and telephone conference held on Sept 27, the provincial government said that it had rolled out measures to promote the recovery of its tourism sector, stimulate consumption, publicize information on preventing the spread of COVID-19 among visitors, increasing surveillance, and ensuring public security.

An array of promotional events and festivities have been held over the past few days, and preferential policies aimed at tourists have been introduced, including discounted tickets and consumption coupons, to promote the recovery of the culture and tourism industries. A total of 689 million yuan ($101 million) in special funds were also allocated to help scenic spots, hotels, travel agencies, and related companies weather the current hardships.

More than 360 A-level scenic spots in Fujian, 96.5 percent of the provincial total, have already reopened to the public. In light of widespread epidemic prevention and control measures, the province has made strong efforts to improve support facilities and management services to create a better consumption environment.

Fujian has also made efforts to bolster its nighttime economy while working to contain the epidemic. Museums in the province are encouraged to extend their hours to meet public demand.

A number of tour routes have been launched as well, including ones themed around cultural heritage.
