The shipping and port industries in East China's Fujian province are working at full capacity to ensure an ample supply of power and raw materials for producing medical equipment and daily necessities, according to local media reports on Feb 12.

A total of 266 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of anti-epidemic materials and products had been processed at the Xiamen and Fuzhou ports by Feb 9, ensuring a sufficient supply of items urgently needed for producing important protective medical supplies and life necessities.

Since Fujian declared a high-level public health emergency, all ports in the province have implemented favorable policies aimed at the shipping of medical supplies and daily necessities in order to help prevent and control the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

Some ports have opened green channels for delivering emergency medical supplies and further optimized the exit and entry process for vehicles with the aim of increasing the speed of customs clearance for aid materials and ensuring they can be sent to medical workers on the frontlines as quickly as possible.

According to statistics released by the local government, port enterprises in Fujian have reduced cargo port administration fees that exceed 10 million yuan ($1.43 million) from Jan 24 to Feb 9.
