The Fujian delegation made tremendous achievements at the 2019 CIFIT, which was held in Xiamen, Fujian province from Sept 8-11, according to local media reports.

The province secured 310 contracts worth $21.79 billion with foreign guests, an increase of 2.8 percent year-on-year, and invested 1.09 billion yuan in other countries, a yearly increase of 23.8 percent.

The Fujian delegation has actively contributed to the Belt and Road Initiative by hosting the first Silk Road Maritime International Cooperation Forum.

Yu Weiguo, Party secretary of Fujian, stressed at the forum that the Silk Road maritime shipping route should serve to more closely connect and increase prosperity among countries involved in the BRI.

Fujian Provincial Communication Transportation Group, Fujian Shipping Company, and other local companies signed 18 cooperation agreements with logistics companies in countries involved in the BRI, including Germany and Russia.

The delegation also organized several BRI two-way investment-themed economic cooperation promotion meetings, of which the China (Fujian) – Indonesia economic cooperation promotion meeting, sponsored by the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce and the consulate general of Indonesia in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, was attended by more than 300 representatives from companies on both sides.

The Fujian delegation also made efforts to improve economic and trade cooperation with Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.

During the 2019 CIFIT, Fujian inked 95 cooperation agreements with Taiwan companies, which received $2.19 billion in investment from Taiwan, and 146 agreements with Hong Kong and Macao companies, which received $5.47 billion in investment from the two places, respective increases of 1 percent and 8.2 percent over last year.

Fujian also launched the first Fujian-Taiwan economic cooperation matchmaking conference during the annual investment event, which attracted nearly 300 representatives from cross-Straits business associations and companies. It also launched a seminar exclusively for Hong Kong companies.
