East China's Fujian province recently released 11 measures to boost its cross-border e-commerce trade with the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, making it a new driver fueling the growth of foreign trade in the province.

The BRI countries have a large population with a huge market and great growth potential, given the coverage of e-commerce is still at a low level there, according to a spokesman from the Fujian provincial department of commerce.

He pointed out that cross-border e-commerce shall become a significant platform for Fujian, an renowned manufacturing hub in China, to expand trade links with these countries.

To achieve the goal, the province rolled out the measures including constructing e-commerce industrial parks, expanding cross-border logistics, establishing overseas warehouses, facilitating customs clearance, optimizing supervision services and improving public platforms and support systems.

In a bid to accelerate the industry's aggregation, the provincial government will also support the construction of cross-border e-commerce industrial park or characteristic towns in the city of Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Putian and Ningde by leveraging their respective advantageous policies in such aspects such as logistics and taxation.
