133 projects worth 72.9b start construction in Q2

Construction began on a total of 133 key projects worth 72.9 billion yuan ($10.8billion) across Fujian in the second quarter of this year, local authorities said.

According to the Fujian provincial development and reform commission, the projects are almost evenly distributed in its nine major cities. Five landed in Pingtan, a comprehensive pilot zone administered by the province.

Ninety-three of the projects were key industrial ones, and had accumulative investment of 49.6 billion yuan.

They include the cellphone module production line project situated in Hanjiang of Putian. With an investment of 10 billion yuan, the project is positioned to an industrial park manufacturing intelligent terminals, crystal display and the core materials of 5G networks.

The petrochemical factory invested by Fujian Baihong Petrochemical Co is another highlight.

Situated in Quangang district of Quanzhou with an investment of 5.7 billion yuan, it is expected to have a capacity of 240 metric tons annually.

Notably, 15 projects focused on improving people's livelihoods had started construction as well, with a total investment of 4.2 billion yuan.

Construction on 52 infrastructure project valued at 19.1 billion yuan was also commenced over the period.
