Zhangzhou explores integration of tea plantation and tourism

Zhangzhou in East China's Fujian province has constructed a flurry of modern tea gardens in recent years, which integrated the functions of tea plantation and tourism.

The move comes as part of the local authorities' efforts to promote industrial transformation, rural vitalization, poverty alleviation and ecological conservation.

According to the statistics released at the sixth Cross-Straits Tea Industry Fair from June 14-16, Zhangzhou now is home to 10 modern gardens with accumulative area of 16,000 mu (1,066.6 hectares), which are much favored by tourists.

Official data shows the city's tea plantation reached 239,500 mu, outputing 49,600 tons of tea worth 2.196 billion yuan ($327.7 million) in 2018.

The scale of the whole tea industry has exceeded 10 billion yuan in Zhangzhou.
