Liu Yong (987–1053) was a Chinese poet of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). He was born in Chong'an of Fujian province.
Liu was the first poet to totally devote himself to the writing of lyrics in the Northern Song Dynasty. He made great contributions in broadening the use of language, developing long lyrics (slow tune) and enriching the expressive techniques of lyric poetry.
