Party chief of Fujian meets Japanese ambassador to China

Yin Li, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, met with Hideo Tarumi, Japanese Ambassador to China, and his delegation in Fuzhou on Nov 2. Zhao Long, Deputy secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and acting governor, attended the meeting.

Yin first welcomed the ambassador and the delegation, and then briefly gave an introduction on Fujian's economic and social development, as well as the exchanges and cooperation conducted between Fujian province and Japan.

Yin said that China and Japan face each other across the sea, and that the two sides have had close personnel exchanges, as well as have promoted economic and trade cooperation in recent years.

Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan. Yin expressed hope that both sides can take this opportunity to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and jointly promote the continuous development of Sino-Japanese relations by deepening and expanding exchanges between Fujian and its sister cities like Nagasaki and Okinawa, as well as enhancing cooperation in fields like culture, tourism, health care, and senior care.

Yin added that Fujian will further optimize its business environment and provide good services for Japanese enterprises based in Fujian in an effort to attract more Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in Fujian.

Tarumi said that many years had passed since he last visited Fujian. Seeing the dramatic changes that have taken place in Fujian, as well as its rapid economic and social development, he praised Fujian's high quality of life and its beauty. 

He said that he valued and cherished the friendship between Fujian and Japan. Tarumi added that he hoped to promote economic and cultural exchanges, as well as carry out in-depth cooperation in a wider range of fields to enhance mutual trust and create a better future.

Guo Ningning, vice governor of the Fujian provincial government, heads of relevant departments of the provincial government, Keiji Kamei, Japanese Consul-General in Guangzhou, and several representatives of Japanese enterprises also attended the meeting.
