Fujian province had a total amount of 6.135 million tons of aquatic products from January to September this year, up 3.4 percent year-on-year, the provincial department of ocean and fisheries announced recently.

The marine economy across the province showed a marked recovery.

In the first three quarters of the year, the province beefed up its efforts to boost the high-quality development of its marine economy, such as carrying out large-scale upgrading and transformation of the province's marine aquaculture, adding four sets of deep-sea aquaculture platforms, as well as promoting the establishment of fishing port economic zones in Xiapu, Lianjiang, and Xiamen.

Other provincial efforts included Fuzhou piloting its smart fishing port and Quanzhou pioneering its "fishing vessel spot inspection center" to ensure the safe production of fisheries.

According to a manager of the provincial department of ocean and fisheries, the department will accelerate the construction of fishing port projects, promote the construction of State-level fishing port economic zones with high standards, deepen the construction of the "smart ocean" as well as accelerate the transformation and upgrading of aquaculture.

The department will also prepare for the fishery production in winter, drive the improvement of deep-sea fisheries, promote the green development of fresh water fisheries, as well as ensure the safety of aquatic products.
