As of Jan 20, a total of 409,190 shots of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered across Fujian province, with zero cases of serious adverse effects reported, according to news released by the Fujian Provincial Health Commission on Jan 21.

The province remains a low-risk area as of Jan 20, demonstrating its success in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wang Xiying, deputy director of the provincial health commission, said that the pandemic situation has remained stable across the province this year. As of Nov 20, all the places in Fujian were low-risk areas.

Wang stressed that a strict command system at the county, town, and village level shall be established to strengthen the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures in rural areas, while strict access control and grid-based management shall be carried out in villages.

Local governments must monitor and record the health status of the people returning to rural areas from other parts of the country, and increase local testing capacity, Wang said.

Governments at all levels should strengthen management of events involving large gatherings of people. Villages should provide sufficient protective materials, including masks, body-temperature testing equipment, and disposable gloves, for villagers, Wang added.
