The SAIC Motor base in Ningde, East China's Fujian province, will become more easily accessible with the opening of the Sanyu interchange on June 28.

Components produced from across the country will be able to be sent to the base easily. Cars produced at the factory will also be able to be transported quickly, said Zhu Xiaoliang, general manager who provides logistics services to the base. With its strong transportation network and efficient logistics system, the base will become the largest motor city in Fujian, he added.

The decision of SAIC Motor, China's largest carmaker by sales, to set up a base in Ningde is significant, which comes as part of the Fujian provincial government's efforts to enhance the competitive ability of the lithium-electric new energy industry in Fujian and promote the development of the new energy automobile industry base in the southeastern coast.

The transportation network serving SAIC Motor's Ningde base is developing rapidly. Projects including the six capitals interchange at Ningde-Gutian Expressway, the reconstruction and extension of National Highway 104, and the construction of wharf 7 berths at Zhangwan Operating Area in Ningde and Fuzhou Port will be completed soon.

The first phase of construction on SAIC Motor's Ningde base will put into use in October this year. The maximum annual output is expected to reach 240,000 vehicles. The annual output value is predicted to increase by 50 to 60 billion yuan ($8.73 billion) after all the projects are put into operation.
