Construction began on a total of 18 key projects worth 22.61 billion yuan ($3.325 billion) in the Binhai New City in Fuzhou on June 29, local media reported.

The projects are primarily focused on public facilities, infrastructure and industries.

The public facilities include Nadi Square, the second phase of Fuzhou Software vocational and technical college and Fuzhou second workers' cultural palace, with accumulative investment of 7.613 billion yuan.

At a cost of 700 million yuan, the Nadi Square, with a planning area of 44.45 mu, encompasses high-quality hotels, residential communities and office buildings. It is expected to be another supporting facility of the Southeast China Big Data Industrial Park.

The road construction projects valued at 12.6 billion yuan will include the Zhanggang-Yingqian section of national highway G316, eastern part of Daqing road and Xincheng road.

Five projects are key industrial ones, and had accumulative investment of 2.394 billion yuan.

They include JD.com's Changle logistics park, Fuda’s high-precision intelligent instrument production base, Xierong automobile fine punching and precision stamping parts manufacturing base, Baizhao new energy-saving and environmental protection new material production base, and the second phases of R&D complex of Southeast China Big Data Industrial Park.

JD.com's Changle logistics park, located in the airport economic zone of Changle county of Fuzhou covers 159 mu at a cost of 650 million yuan.

It mainly comprises of three single-storey small and medium-sized parts warehouses and supporting facilities. After completion, the park shall boost growth of local logistics industry.

Currently, the Binhai New City is pushing ahead with the construction of 265 key projects worth 310 billion yuan, among which 23 has finished construction.
