Cross-Straits (Quanzhou) industrial design competition kicks off

The First "Maritime Silk Road Cup" Cross-Straits (Quanzhou) Industrial Design Competition kicked off on July 31 in Quanzhou Taiwan Investment Zone, which is located in Quanzhou, a city in East China's Fujian province.

The contest is now officially soliciting works from enterprises, institutions, colleges, individuals and teams from the cross-Straits.

It is made up of two categories – intelligent manufacturing and technological innovation, and intangible cultural heritage and cultural creativity.

It will focus on Quanzhou Taiwan Investment Zone's leading industries, namely intelligent transportation, health care and high-end equipment manufacturing.

The inaugural competition will additionally include cultural and creative designs integrating famous scenic spots, such as Luoyang Bridge and the Maritime Silk Road Art Park, as well as intangible cultural heritage, folk landscapes and arts and crafts.

After its launch ceremony, the competition will enter the solicitation stage, which will run until Oct 13. From mid-October to mid-November, experts in related fields will carry out three rigorous selection rounds, with the award ceremony set to be held in mid-November.

The competition is intended to help outstanding talents from the cross-Straits discover the development prospects of key industries in Quanzhou Taiwan Investment Zone, and learn more about the industrial value of intangible heritage crafts.
