The Chinese men's team clinched gold on April 25 at the 2026 IBSA Men's Blind Football Asian Championship in Osaka, Japan, defeating Japan 1-0 and securing their eighth Asian title.
This triumph highlights Fujian's contributions, with three players, one goalkeeper, and two coaches from the province. Among them, core players such as Zhang Jiasong, Xu Huachu, and Zhong Liang are all graduates from the Fuzhou School for the Blind, with the current national team player Yuan Ziqi also a student at a blind school. Head coach Wang Guishun, originally from Shandong, holds a master's degree from Fujian Normal University and has long considered Fuzhou his second home.
Throughout the tournament, the team displayed exceptional resilience and skill. They advanced from the group stage with a perfect record, defeating Thailand 1-0, Uzbekistan 5-0, and South Korea 4-0. In the semifinals, they overcame India 3-0, paving the way for their decisive victory against Japan in the final. Remarkably, the team did not concede a single goal throughout the competition.
This championship win also secures their qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics, with each victory being a testament to the collective effort and determination of the entire team. Next, they will devote all their efforts to preparing for the Asian Paralympic Games.
