An intelligent Bluetooth device was introduced in Fuzhou, Fujian province, to regulate the parking of shared bikes and keep the city tidy and orderly.

A total of 32 designated parking lots for shared bikes were built in seven major areas of the city and put into use since Tuesday. The safety lock on bikes, equipped with the Beidou Navigation Satellite System, can automatically identify signals from the Bluetooth signal projectors installed in the lots. If users don't park bikes in the designated parking lots, the bikes cannot be locked and the chargeable time will not be stopped, according to a company worker in charge of the project.

According to Fuzhou's urban management commission, many users park shared bikes casually, occupying space for other vehicles or blocking traffic. It's part of the commission's efforts to be more innovative in urban management. Users are given a one-month buffer period to adapt to the regulation, during which they will be taught and persuaded.

Besides, three shared bike companies will install Bluetooth devices to collect and report in real time information on the bikes to control the overall number of bikes in different areas of Fuzhou.
