A conference promoting East China’s Fujian province globally is set to be held in Beijing on July 5.

Fujian is a coastal province in the southern part of China, and is bordered by Zhejiang to the north, Jiangxi to the west, Guangdong to the south, along with Taiwan to the east, across the Taiwan Strait.

Fujian enjoys a rich supply of natural resources including soil, sea, forest, minerals, and wind resources. It is the most forested provincial level administrative region in China, with a 66.8 percent of forest coverage rate in 2018.

As a key node along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the province’s trade with countries involved in Belt and Road Initiative reached 394.62 billion yuan ($58.89 billion) last year, representing an increase of 10.7 percent year-on-year.

It has also leapfrogged in the digital economic development in recent years. In 2018, the scale of its digital economy stood at 1.42 trillion yuan.
