World Buddhist Forum opens in Fujian

The Fifth World Buddhist Forum opened in Putian, East China's Fujian province, on Oct 28. The three-day forum, which themed with "Exchange with mutual learning, middle way for perfect harmony" attracts over 1,000 people including Buddhists, specialist and scholars from 55 countries and regions wordwide.

Seven sub-forums including Buddhism and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Buddhism and philanthropy and Buddhism and environment protection is set to be held during the event to promote the development of Buddhism and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

On its sidelines will be exhibitions such as pictures of Buddhist culture along the Belt and Road Initiative and multilingual transcriptions of Chinese Buddhism.

Jointly proposed by Buddhist communities in Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao in 2005, the World Buddhist Forum was established as a platform for Buddhists to communicate and cooperate.
