Fishermen in Xiapu county, East China's Fujian province are busy harvesting porphyra, a kind of edible seaweed commonly known as "Zicai" in China, this month.

Situated in the northeastern part of the coastal province, Xiapu abounds in shallow seawater products such as kelp and porphyra.

Now, roughly 60,000- mu(4,000 hectares) porphyra farms have entered the harvest season in the county. With years' development, the sea plant has become a pillar industry of the local marine economy.

Meanwhile, the porphyra farms lined neatly on the sea have also turned out to be a local signature sea view, attracting numerous visitors during the harvest season.
