A Fujian government delegation headed by Yu Weiguo, Party chief of Fujian, met Wang Zhimin, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Oct 7.

"The liaison office has been paying close attention to Fujian's development", Yu said. On behalf of the Fujian government, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the office for its long-term efforts in boosting cooperation and exchanges between Fujian and Hong Kong in multiple fields.

It's hoped that the office could continue to play a positive role in furthering the ties between Fujian and Hong Kong, injecting new impetus into the joint prosperity of the two places, Yu added.

Wang Zhimin pointed out that Fujian people in Hong Kong are the irreplaceable force in Hong Kong's long-term stability and prosperity, and in passing down their patriotism from generation to generation.

The liaison office is learning and implementing the spirit of the speech delivered by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Hong Kong last year, and will continue to act as the role of a bridge connecting the mainland and Hong Kong, promoting the all-round collaboration between Fujian and Hong Kong in multiple fields, Wang said.

China's reform and opening-up has created many opportunities for the joint development between Fujian and Hong Kong since 1978. Hong Kong has become Fujian's biggest source of foreign investment and second largest destination for exports.
