A festive mood is easily felt in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, as Spring Festival, which falls on Feb 16 this year, is just around the corner.

The holiday atmosphere is peculiarly strong in the city's transport hubs such as the railway station and airport, as they are ready to embrace the festival travel rush, which began on Feb 1 and is expected to last for 40 days.

A basket-shaped flower parterre along with placards bearing three Chinese characters "迎新春", which means "welcome to the New Year", were erected on a plaza in front of the Fuzhou Railway Station.

At the city's airport, thirty local calligraphers were invited on Monday to create Spring Festival couplets for passengers traveling to and from the city, enabling them to feel the city’s warmth and wishing them a happy New Year.
