Fuzhou Library, situated in the Minjiang North Bank Central Business District in Fuzhou, capital city of Southeast China's Fujian province, opened to the public on Dec 5.

Covering an area of 58,000 square meters, the 12-floor library boasts 1 million books and 3,000 seats for readers.

In addition to books, it also includes several exhibition areas and media rooms to display Fuzhou local characteristic culture and history, such as tea-brewing artifacts and other items representing the region’s intangible cultural heritage.

"The opening of the library shall further boost the city's public cultural service," said Li Chuan, the city's vice mayor, adding that in the future they shall learn advanced library management techniques and turn the library into one of the city’s informative, cultural and creative centers.

The library, built at a cost of 400 million yuan ($60.4 million), was funded by Cao Dewang, president of Fuyao Glass Industry Group.

Founded in Fuzhou in 1987, Fuyao is a listed multinational company specializing in the manufacture of automobile safety glass and industrial technical glass.
