Textiles and garments
The textiles and garment industries in Fujian have relatively complete industrial sectors covering manufacturing and dyeing of chemical fiber, non-woven cloth, industrial textiles, textiles for daily use, clothes and the manufacturing of textile machinery.
The province is home to more than 5,100 enterprises that export textiles and garments with a combined value of $23 billion. Exports of garments totaled $14.5 billion and textiles were valued at $6.57 billion last year.
Ceramic and resin craftwork
Fujian is one of the main manufacturers and exporters of craftwork in ceramic and resin, with more than 3,700 companies engaged in exporting crafts valued at $2.56 billion in 2013.
Fujian is one of the three-largest footwear production centers in China. Local companies in Quanzhou, Fuzhou and Putian make about 40 percent of the country's total, the second-most in the nation.
Production of sports shoes and plastic slippers accounts for the largest proportion.
The province is also the second-biggest footwear exporter in the country, with its annual volume accounting for one-fourth of the total.
Last year, the export of footwear from some 1,800 local companies was valued at more than $11 billion.
Furniture and decoration
Exports include metal, panel and solid wood furniture. Decoration exports include canvas paintings and picture frames made of wood, leather, iron, gold and silver foil.
The United States and European countries continue to be major importers of the products. The province has about 1,900 companies in the sector that generated a total export volume of more than $3.5 billion last year.
Quanzhou city is the biggest producer of luggage in the province with some 270 companies in the field. Products include trolley suitcases and soft packs for sports and leisure as well as fiber cloth, zippers and locks for suitcases.
Fujian is China's biggest producer and exporter of umbrellas.
It has nearly 500 umbrella companies concentrated in Jinjiang, Zhangpu, Xiamen and Nan'an. Dongshi town in Jinjiang is nicknamed the "capital of umbrella in China".
The prosperity of the industry has resulted in a group of nationally famous brands such as Susino, Fulongs, Yuzhongniao, Yusimeng, Sun City, Jicheng and Hongli. Many have set up specialist stores nationwide.
In 2013, the province exported umbrellas worth $1.27 billion, with companies in Quanzhou the largest contributor with nearly $500 million worth of products.
Automobiles, car parts and heavy machinery
Automobiles, car parts and heavy machinery are also large industries in the province.
Major companies engaged in making automobiles and car parts include Fuyao Group, Xiamen King Long Motor and Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co.
Major companies engaged in heavy machinery include Linde (China) Forklift Truck Corp, Quanzhou Qixing Machine Co and Xiamen XGMA Machinery Co.
Last year, the province generated over $1.2 billion in exports of whole cars and car parts, and nearly $600 million in exports of heavy machines.
Shipbuilding is another important industry.
Fujian has a group of leading State-owned shipbuilding companies in Mawei and Xiamen, with private shipbuilding companies mainly located in Ningde, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou. Exports include container ships, car carriers, bulk cargo ships, oil carriers, tuna fishing ships and cruise liners.
Last year, the value of exported finished ships from 71 local companies was more than $1 billion.
Major local electric machinery includes generators, motors and water pumps, with companies in the field mainly in Ningde and Fuzhou.
Last year, exports of electric machinery from 820 companies surpassed $1.4 billion in value.
The industry chain includes display devices, computers, digital audio-visual equipment and electronic components. Foreign-funded enterprises and small private companies are both active in the industry concentrated in Fuzhou and Xiamen.
Last year, exports in the industry reached nearly $15 billion, accounting for 57 percent of the province's exports in mechanical and electrical products.
Fujian had the first national semiconductor lighting product industrial base in the nation and the first related foreign trade restructuring demonstration center.
It has been one of the world's largest producers and exporters of such lighting products for years, accounting for about 20 percent of the global market.
Noted brands include Leedarson, Megaman, Topstar, LEELITE and Firefly.
Last year, the value of energy-efficient lighting exports hit $2.4 billion.
Major products in the industry include ceramics, plumbing equipment, stone and cabinets.
Stone companies concentrated in southern province are famous for making gravestones and stone carvings in marble and granite as well as thin plates.
Leading companies producing plumbing equipment in Nan'an in Quanzhou city are Joyou, Sunlot and Jomoo.
Last year, exports of stone products hit nearly $3.8 billion.
Fujian has several farm products with strong competitiveness including roasted eels, aquatic products, fruit, mushrooms and tea.
The province has formed a complete industrial chain ranging from planting, processing, packaging and logistics to testing, research and development.
Fujian is one of China's major manufacturing and export centers for sports goods, particularly fitness and massage apparatus. Six of every 10 treadmills used across the world are made in the province, while its exports of massage apparatus account for over 70 percent of the national total in the field.
The province's value of exports of sports goods hit $1.7 billion last year.
Watches and clocks
The timepiece sector is a traditional industry in Fujian. Continuous development of production centers in Fuzhou and Zhangzhou has made it the second-biggest producer in China following Guangdong province.
Products include mechanical, quartz and LED watches as well as desk clocks and solar energy timers. Over 90 percent of the products are exported.
Last year, exports from some 570 companies in the sector surpassed $390 million.
Major forest products for export are wood, bamboo products, food, paper and activated charcoal. Noted local brands are Furen, Blue Panther and Yuanli.
Last year, exports from the industry hit $730 million.
