The oil-paper umbrella produced in Fuzhou is one of the three treasures in the province. The time-honored artifact is popular in the Chinese market, as well as among other countries and regions.
The craftsmanship of making such a paper umbrella is extremely delicate. Craftsmen draw such quaint patterns as flowers, birds, natural scenery, and human figures on the umbrella by adopting art forms including oil painting, spray painting, and silk-screen printing.
A well-made Fujian paper umbrella can be unfolded for more than 10,000 times, and it can also remain its original shape after being soaked in water for 24 hours or being put in the temperature of about 50 Celsius degrees.
